Hello friends. Just a quick note to let you know we’ve moved! Please visit our new blog home:  Please pardon our dust while we get to work re-tagging and getting used to our new place. Don’t forget to update your rss feeds (visit the new blog, then click the orange subscribe button in the right hand column). See you over there.

Merci, as always, for all your support.

sullivan's island wedding invitation

Sullivan’s Island is one of my favorite floral wedding invitation designs. It’s not one of our most popular, but I still love it. I was inspired by the sweet butterflies and pretty wild flowers along the sand dunes. Every time someone orders it I am reminded of walks along the beach on the South Carolina coast, where I consider home.

new: pennants to match delphine wedding invitations

Just released: our brand new pennant flags for drinking straws. Available only through authorized Delphine dealers. I just love how they add a punch of color to a tray of drinks.

new wedding invitation album ships today!

I am so thriilled to announce that today, after printing 25,000 samples, gluing 15,000 pages, hand setting 2,000 grommets and suffering a couple of paper cuts, our brand new Signature Collection wedding invitation album ships to stores!

The new wedding invitation album has 22 designs, many of which are brand new, like our Chevron wedding invitation design.

At Delphine we love color! Each of our 22 designs is available in any of our more than 50 standard ink colors.

New: PENNANTS! I’m sooo excited about our brand new product: pennant flags for drinking straws. Right now they are only available through stores who are authorized Delphine dealers. Besides the pennants, each Delphine wedding invitation design has matching stickers, coasters, and address labels.

I’m really excited about one of our new designs, Lace. In the book, we show it in “Delphine” green and “cloud” gray ink. I especially like the pretty lace patterned envelope liner.

We designed the album with retailers in mind … each book comes with a separate dealer deck, with giant swatches of all our paper, envelope and liner colors. Dealers also get a bag of samples for display and a disc with a downloadable order form and promo images.

There are only 8 left! If you’d like to order one please get in touch with us at the studio.

inspired by lovely lace + big partnership news!

Lately I’ve been exploring softer, more romantic designs. A random paper doily found in the bottom of a kitchen drawer inspired the new romantic lace doily wedding invitation I designed for Wedding Paper Divas.

That’s right! In addition to all the new designs we’re releasing this month in our new Delphine wedding album, we’re also launching a partnership with Tiny Prints and Wedding Paper Divas! I’m super excited about this new partnership. We worked with the Tiny Prints folks to help design a new hybrid letterpress-digital wedding invitation.

What does that mean? Well, the design-y part (in this case, the doily motif) is letterpressed on pretty cotton paper, and the text (the part you customize) is printed flat/digitally. My collection of Delphine for Wedding Paper Divas wedding invitations launched with a few designs last month. Check back often, as the collection will be filling out soon.

sneak peek: new lace, carnival and watercolor wedding invitation designs

A few reasons for the radio silence around here: We’re finishing up the new Delphine wedding invitation album — working on assembling the dealer decks now (hitting stores any day now), and we’re busy taking photos of our new designs, including Carnival, Lace, and Watercolor Stripes.

sneak peek: the new delphine wedding invitation album

I know, I know … I’ve been MIA. Though technically this is our off season, I’m busier than ever. Since returning from NSS it has just been project after meeting after project after rush job after photoshoot after quick trip after project! On top of it all, we’ve had lots of house guest this Spring and Summer, which makes me extremely happy, but something had to give: the blog. Sorry, everyone! Thought I’d sneak in a super quick post, though, to show you a sneak peek at our brand new wedding album. It is a ton of work to put one of these babies together. To start, I designed about a dozen new suites! In less than 6 weeks! Now we’re in the assembly stage, which is exciting. If you’re thinking of ordering an album now is the time!

big news: delphine's new wedding invitation album

BIG NEWS from the Delphine Studio: We have a brand new wedding album!!! It features our top 12 best-selling invitation designs, and a bunch of brand new ones, as well. Everything is available to be ordered letterpress or flat printed, and the book also includes party favors. Woot!

Here’s a sneak peek at some of the new designs:

New Delphine wedding invitation design: Calligraphic. A modern twist on tradition. A timeless classic.

New Delphine wedding invitation design: Wonderland. A neo-Victorian inspired, Alice in Wonderland influenced design.

New Delphine wedding invitation design: New Orleans. Casual and fun.

New Delphine wedding invitation: Rose. This is our Louie Award finalist design! Love it letterpressed in pink and gray.

branded by delphine: mediterranean cruise

This is one of the more unusual logo projects I’ve ever done. A regular client is headed off for a big birthday celebration private cruise with her husband and their friends, and she wanted a logo to help brand the trip. I had a lot of fun doing the research, and came up with an anchor as the main theme for the logo. I incorporated classic nautical hues: navy blue, foul weather gear yellow, and squid ink black, as well as a fun bright yellow stripe pattern.

I found some fabulous nautical tote bags, complete with painted rubber bases and real rope handles, at Lands End, and had the logo embroidered onto them. Of course we had to embroider the logo onto a few beach towels and terry cloth shirts for all the guests, too.

Watch out, Marina. I may stow away yet!

branded by delphine: given

Congrats to the ladies of GIVEN, who are the proud new owners of a lovely logo designed by Delphine! GIVEN combines jewelry with the power of community and commerce to markedly contribute to global healing. Can’t wait to tell you more about it … their website isn’t quite ready yet, but I’ll be sure to share once it’s ready for business. In the logo, I used an elegant color palette of metallic champagne (not quite gold, not quite silver) for the “rings” and earthy rich mushroom brown to ground the name.

national stationery show meetup 2011

I’m coming out of hibernation (deadlines, deadlines, deadlines are killing me!) to let you know that the 7th annual National Stationery Show (NSS) meetup is happening Tuesday, May 17th, 2011 in New York, so please save the date. This year I’m organizing the meetup with Brooklyn Bride, Cat Seto, and Paper + Cup. I’m so looking forward to catching up with everyone in New York for Design Week 2011! Details will follow soon … we’re still trying to find the most perfect location.

north county graphic design: design decline & movie night meetup thursday march 31, 2011

I do hope you’ll join us for our next North County Graphic Designer MOVIE NIGHT, which will also be our very first DESIGN DECLINE show. We’ll meet Thursday, March 31, 2011 / 6pm at Clients & Profits in Oceanside.

Here’s the scoop: print and bring a rejected logo (or other project) that was rejected by your client, but you secretly loved, along with the design the client eventually approved. (If the logo was a rebrand, bring the original if you’d like). In addition, write a brief blurb about the brand you were designing for (i.e. industry, audience, etc.) to put the design in context. The designs will be voted on and the winner will get a prize!

FYI: no need for fancy formatting, mounting or anything crazy. We’ll just tack up copies on the whiteboard.

Oh, and we’ll also watch a short film about graphic designers and have a good chat.

Many thanks to our friends Mark and Chris of Clients & Profits for generously hosting movie nights! We’ll have snacks and cocktails, so RSVP via email, leave a comment here on the blog, or on our LinkedIn Group, so we can be sure to have enough to go around. Looking for our LinkedIn Group? Do a LinkedIn “group” search for “North County Graphic Designers.”

Hope to see you there! All creatives welcome. This is a free event. NCGD co-founded by Delphine and KMG. Artwork by Kerry Layton. Thanks, Kerry!!

seed packages designed by delphine for isabella smith

These seed packet packaging designs were one of my favorite projects of all time. Pretty flowers, spring colors, clean design, interesting type (all in Danish) and the most lovely client you could imagine all combined! So far I’ve designed 22 varieties. They’re available in Isabella Smith Country Store shops and catalog, and on the Isabella Smith website.

Seed packages designed by Erika Firm of Delphine for Isabella Smith.

UPDATE: Isabella just sent over this photo from their latest photo shoot for their Spring catalog:
