wish list: vintage office supplies

I have a soft spot for vintage office supplies. Truth be told, they need not even be vintage for me to love them. There is a reason why I do my office supply shopping online: so I don't buy up the entire Staples store!

I found all three of these "must haves" for my studio on Etsy. The vintage green clip board would look awesome hanging on the wall in my studio with the day's "to do" items listed. The vintage rubber stamp caddy would be nice to have, too. Right now all my stamps are piled in a giant jar, which is pretty inconvenient (J: this would improve studio efficiency AND look cool!).

Is it just me, or do these vintage paper clips look a little dangerous? I am constantly running out of paper clips (I use them more than staples because my pressman likes to spread proofs out, not have them stuck together). So I neeeeed these, right?

Photos from each Etsy shop. Clip board: Ephemera and More; Stamp holder: Vintage Rerun; Vintage paper clips: DotDotDotShop.

pretty neat

I just adore this darling tiered display stand made from vintage china. Of course it would be great for a tea party or dessert buffet, but I can also see it being used everyday: pile jewelry on it for display (and easy access) on your vanity, or pile darling macaron soaps on it for a sweet look in the guest bath. Just be sure to warn your guests not the eat the soap ...

Display Stand by OrangeandBlossom; Macaron soap by KcSoapsnMore. Both found on Etsy.

plum wedding details

I'm constantly amazed by the incredible talent on Etsy. Don't you love this ranunculus necklace by BlushEnvy? I love the gorgeous deep pink colors. Would look lovely for an "aubergine dream" or plum wedding. Can you believe the necklace is made of paper? Really, it is! I think it would be a gorgeous accessory for a black tie wedding. I see it paired with a lovely, elegant heirloom organza J.Crew wedding gown and a classic and romantic ribbon rosette clutch in dark iris.

Add some extra chic details, like a short bird cage veil from Brenda's Bridal Veils (another Etsy score), and the look really comes together. For a finishing touch, exquisite diamond jewelry. I found the emerald cut diamond wedding ring and the pretty teardrop earrings on Overstock.com.

wishing you a weekend full of pancakes

painting by Dear Weekend

Good morning, darling readers. It's Friday already, can you believe it? This week was full of highs: I met a ton of fellow designerds at the North County Graphic Design Meetup; secured a new project with one of my favorite clients; and made time to lunch with a dear friend, to name a few. Unfortunately there were a couple of real lows, which I won't go in to other than to mention that I had to review my old law books from Journalism school days to brush up on libel and slander. Ugh. I'm shaking it off. Don't worry.

I have to say, though, that one of the best parts of my week was to receive an email from an old client, Elisabeth Klos. One of the many joys of working with brides is meeting brides! Last year I had the pleasure of working with Elisabeth on her wedding invitations.  She told me then that she was interested in exploring her creative side. She told me she was a painter at heart (she was working in sales at the time, if I remember correctly), and was positively itching to get back to it. Of course I encouraged her whole heartedly to pursue her passion. I'm so happy to see that she has followed through and is now painting full time! The wonderful pancake painting above, by Elisabeth Klos, is sold in her brand new Etsy shop, Dear Weekend. I hope you'll visit her shop when you have a moment. You can read more about her technique in the shop (she incorporates collage ... pieces of ingredient packaging peek through the paint).

Enjoy the weekend. Wishing you a lazy couple of days full of love, laughter and pancake breakfasts with your families and friends!

bright & cheery christmas tags

Have you seen our limited edition goodies, like these cute snowflake tree Merry Christmas tags, in our Etsy shop? We were printing a business card job on these bright fun colors and they just screamed Christmas to me for some reason. Sometimes it's nice to switch up the old red, green, gold, silver holiday routine!

decorate: violet swallow queen ornament

I have a serious soft spot for Christmas ornaments. I'd keep them out all year if I could (and, honestly, I DO keep a few out on my desk all year). Some people (i.e. my husband) think I have a serious problem. I like all styles: handmade, glittery, modern, rustic, vintage, felt, embroidered. Throughout the season I'll be posting some of my favorites, like this gorgeous handmade ornament by The Night Jar.

The Violet Swallow Queen holiday Christmas ornament is a print of the artist's original work, which she affixed to a wood heart and decorated with German glass glitter. She'll inscribe the back of the ornament (free!) for you to make it a dear heirloom. It's available here on Etsy for $18. Also on my wish list:the violet swallow queen print would look great in my soon-to-be-painted bedroom. Swoon.

new on etsy: glitter christmas ornaments

I heart glitter, and so does my mom. We spent some time over the holiday weekend decorating ornaments together for her ETSY shop. The wood ornaments are completely covered with super fine glitter. We had so much fun! Please visit her shop, SainteBeatrice. Merci!

artist: caitlin kuhwald

No matter what you think of our President's politics, there is no doubt that he is married to a super stylish first lady! Caitlin Kuhwald's paper doll illustration of Mrs. Obama (for Psychology Today magazine) is utterly charming. When I first saw the illustration I laughed out loud, then seriously considered cutting it up and playing with the doll (something I never would have done as a child...I always played with cars and trucks). Caitlin's other work is just as darling. I'm especially smitten with her woodland and barnyard animal illustrations. You can check out her portfolio here and her Etsy shop here

new on etsy: limited edition bunny note cards

Over the weekend I updated the delphineSTUDIO etsy shop, which had been sadly neglected for the past few months. I added some limited edition woodland note cards, like this bunny rabbit "what's up" note card set. I also finally took some better photos of our initials note cards, and those will be added to our website and our Etsy shop soon (promise).

in the press: southern weddings blog

I was so happy to see our Delphine Rococo place cards in this post on Southern Weddings today. I love seeing how brides incorporate our work into their Big Day. I really like the wood seating card holder that they've used to hold the card. You can find it here in GoodGuest's Etsy shop.

oh so chic: green feather hair clip

Isn't this green feather hair clip by Lucia Bella gorgeous? She says her designs are inspired by vintage glam, couture, and rock & roll. I can see all three here for sure! Trés chic for a rehearsal dinner outfit or a glamourous bride. It might be too much for a gaggle of bridesmaids to have the exact same clip, but if they had similar ones, perhaps chosen to complement their hair color (and the dresses, of course)  ... how great would that be? Swoon.

adorable animal art

Delphine intern Tori says: These little animal vases and sculptures are made by California artist Joanna Medicino. Each is hand thrown, so no two are the same. I love the clean and simple lines. Not to mention they are just too cute! My favorite is the hamster : ) You can see more of her work in her Etsy shop.

Delphine says: We had the pleasure of exhibiting at SFIGF across the aisle from Joanna a few years ago. And we, too, fell in love with her vases. In fact we have a few (the penguin and a modern mini bud vase) that we traded for stationery and a few shelves that we didn't want to take home with us after the show. Best trade at a show EVER!

say hello, little snail

Fellow Designing Mom Kira makes the most adorable handmade cards. I love this hello friend snail card from her Etsy shop.
