sneak peek: the new delphine wedding invitation album

I know, I know … I’ve been MIA. Though technically this is our off season, I’m busier than ever. Since returning from NSS it has just been project after meeting after project after rush job after photoshoot after quick trip after project! On top of it all, we’ve had lots of house guest this Spring and Summer, which makes me extremely happy, but something had to give: the blog. Sorry, everyone! Thought I’d sneak in a super quick post, though, to show you a sneak peek at our brand new wedding album. It is a ton of work to put one of these babies together. To start, I designed about a dozen new suites! In less than 6 weeks! Now we’re in the assembly stage, which is exciting. If you’re thinking of ordering an album now is the time!

big news: delphine's new wedding invitation album

BIG NEWS from the Delphine Studio: We have a brand new wedding album!!! It features our top 12 best-selling invitation designs, and a bunch of brand new ones, as well. Everything is available to be ordered letterpress or flat printed, and the book also includes party favors. Woot!

Here’s a sneak peek at some of the new designs:

New Delphine wedding invitation design: Calligraphic. A modern twist on tradition. A timeless classic.

New Delphine wedding invitation design: Wonderland. A neo-Victorian inspired, Alice in Wonderland influenced design.

New Delphine wedding invitation design: New Orleans. Casual and fun.

New Delphine wedding invitation: Rose. This is our Louie Award finalist design! Love it letterpressed in pink and gray.

If you’d like more info on the new album (we have a limited supply, ready to ship in June) please drop us a line at the studio

in the press: uppercase magazine letterpress issue

I was an Uppercase fan before, but when I found out they were doing an issue about letterpress I was over the moon. Then they contacted us here at the Delphine studio for inclusion in the article! Fantabulous.

Each featured studio donated a stack of prints, which were inserted in the issue for subscribers. That’s our limited edition Valentine at the bottom left of the page. I hope they didn’t give that particular one out—- it was the “makeready” or mistake one used to protect the rest of the stack. If you look closely you’ll see it is printed twice. Oh, well.

haute off the press: darlington letterpress invitations

Sometimes a wedding invitation rolls off the letterpress here at the Delphine studio that makes me want to crash the wedding. This letterpress DARLINGTON invitation, pressed in palm green and jet black inks on off-white 100 percent cotton paper is one of them. A wedding at someplace called The Primrose Cottage? Yes, please.

The invitation design, DARLINGTON, is one of my all time favorites (it started as a mistake … I was designing a vintage victorian-inspired invitation and a modern polka-dot invitation and accidentally layered them together). This invitation has been modified slightly from the original Darlington design, to make it a more traditional 5x7 size. Don’t you just love the classic green and black wedding color scheme? If I still lived in Georgia I would definitley be peeking my nose in to sneak a peek at this wedding. I’d love to see how Gigi incorporates the chic, dramatic colors into her reception. Gigi, if you’re reading this … send photos : )

inspired by: the eiffel tower

My grandmother  (Delphine) lived in Paris for many years, has been back to visit dozens of times, and yet has never been to the top of the Eiffel Tower because it is "for tourists." What a shame, non? Are there touristy things in your own city that you have never visited? I am guilty of having never visited lots of tourist attractions in San Diego. Like the Star of India. Silly of me. Oui!

Shown above: 1: Eiffel Tower necklace from Forever 21  2: Limited Edition Eiffel Tower Letterpress Notecards by Delphine  3: Delightful pink beret by Crafts2Cherish on Etsy  4: Pink and black Eiffel Tower fabric by Michael Miller Fabric  5: Eiffel Tower Caramel Bon bons from Saveur du Jour  6: Authentic French timbres (stamps) from Washington Stamps.

in the press: martha stewart weddings fall 2010

I am so so so (soooooo) happy (insert squeal) to share that Delphine was featured in the beautiful Fall 2010 issue of Martha Stewart Weddings magazine. It should be hitting news stands any minute now, so I can finally share my preview copy with you:

Here's our page. We created our "Charleston Stitch" wedding invitation for this issue. It was a lot of fun working with the editorial team at the magazine. Kind of like a dream come true. I really love how the letterpress turned out. We also adapted the same design for flat printing, which is really affordable. The design was inspired by hand stitched couture wedding gowns. I think it's a lovely invitation choice for a modern and chic wedding. I'd love to see it printed in navy and hot pink (like anemones), or in two shades of ocean blue. This design is brand new on the site, so nobody has ordered it just yet. Can't wait to see what the first order looks like!

haute off the press: letterpress invitations

Bonjour, lovely readers. Thought you'd like to see what has been rolling off our letterpress lately: lots of bold color. Brides, if you see your invitation here we'd love to hear from you (and see wedding pics).

haute off the letterpress: custom moroccon invitation

One of our lovely clients, fresh from a trip to Morocco, asked us to design a birthday party invitation inspired by photos from her trip. We worked together to come up with the perfect palette: peacock and marine blue, paired with bright white 100 percent cotton paper. We toyed around with graphics of Fez hats, moroccon slippers and lamps, but decided upon the pitcher as it was the most festive looking. My favorite touch is the patterned liners.

in the press: reinventing letterpress

Many thanks to Charlotte Rivers for featuring Delphine in her latest book, Reinventing Letterpress. It's an awesome compendium of letterpress studios, and I'm truly honored to be included.

congrats patricia & gill

Congrats to sweet Patricia and husband Gill; they were married this past weekend in a darling chateaux just outside Brussels. I am sooooo excited and happy for you two. Cannot wait to hear all about it (truly I am so sorry to have missed this epic day).

I've known Patricia since she was a little girl, so it was no surprise to me when she told me her wedding colors are aubergine and champagne. I seem to remember a lot of sparkly purple nail polish when she was a tot ; )

We letterpressed all of Patricia and Gill's stationery in aubergine and champagne inks; the design was custom, but look out for a similar design to come to the Delphine line later this summer.

Congrats again, you two. Send photos when you can, and please tell me you have your dad's speach recorded because I cannot wait to hear it!
