blog love: felt and wire

One of my daily reads is Felt & Wire. I was thrilled when they asked us to letterpress their cool Pentagram-designed business cards and note cards.

They are printed on Strathmore (but of course we couldn't resist testing out the blind hit on chipboard and some scraps of black paper we had around the studio). I love how the blind hit looks on chipboard!

contest: win 150 delphine save the dates

I'm so excited to announce that Nole at Oh So Beautiful Paper is hosting a super huge delphine giveaway. You can win 150 lettepress save the dates (by delphine, of course). Please visit Oh So Beautiful Paper for contest rules and details.

The letterpress design shown here is our Savannah style. The save the date was inspired by the cute little yellow butterflies that flutter around Georgia and the South Carolina lowcountry.

Good luck to everyone. Contest entries are due Friday. Thanks, Nole, for hosting such a wonderful contest. I can't wait to see all the entries!

real wedding: megan and casey

One of the best things about my job is getting to know lovely people like Megan and Casey. Last year about this time I was printing invitations for their August wedding. After their Big Day they shared their photos with me, and I'm so happy that their beautiful, beautiful wedding is featured on The Knot here so you all can see it, too. (photos by Thia Konig).

The final mockup (above) of the invites we designed printed for Megan and Casey, and a few pics of the final design (below). I had a great time designing these invites for them (and you can see that one of the motifs eventually turned into our Meeting Street design, which you can read about here and see here on our site).

makeready: illuminated initials

Here's a sneak peek at our new Illuminated Initials letterpress cards. This photo is of makeready -- the sheets that we use to get the press setup. Sometimes I end up keeping and framing a few pieces of makeready - the happy accidents that happen can be inspiring! We have a few more examples in our paperie.

national stationery show: setup day one

1: John built our crates at the warehouse.

2: Our NSS booth (3327) as it looked when we arrived. Note the random equipment and the slightly damaged crates. All the wheels were busted off of both crates, so we had to wait an hour for a Freeman to move the crates into the aisle with a forklift. One crate also had a whole in the top. Not a nice feeling. Luckily the contents only suffered minor damage.

3. This is what we paid for ... an empty 20 x 10 booth with concrete floors, no lighting, and some pipe and drape. It's up to us to make it interesting!

4. Holy purple, Batman. When the back wall went up it looked a little more purple than we had originally planned-- but after the lights went in we realized it was just because it had been dark. We used metallic paint by Ralph Lauren.

5. Our organized mess.

6. One wall, sort of complete. End of day one of setup!

nss preview: new letterpress bookmarks

hummingbird letterpress bookmark by delphine

Last year we introduced some neat oversize gift tags (we had wine bottles in mind when we designed them). At the National Stationery Show lots of buyers asked us to develop boomarks, so, voila: cute bookmarks. This hummingbird one is letterpressed in champagne ink on pale magnolia pink 100 percent post consumer waste stock. It will be available in stores next month.

Coming soon to stores, our adorable baby giraffe letterpress "many thanks" note card. The cute illustration was done by our favorite illustrator, my mom. It's part of our new Baby Animals Collection, which will debut next week at the National Stationery Show in New York.
